At Shutters Direct, we are committed to providing you with as much information as possible to help you choose your shutter company. All our real wooden shutters are made using FSC certified hardwoods. Great – but what does that actually mean?

FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council. Text book explanation ? Ok Here goes - “They are a non-profit, non-government-aligned organisation dedicated to promoting responsible forest management. “ They want to ensure that wood is grown, harvested and replanted in a way that does not damage the environment. – Which I am sure you will agree we could all do a little bit more of. With many wood products manufactured from illegally harvested wood from badly managed forests, we believe it’s important for our customers to be able to buy our wooden shutters with a clear conscience - knowing 100% that the wood used does not negatively impact on the planet.

Gaining FSC certification is an in-depth process. Our entire supply chain, office procedures and paperowrk was reviewed, before we could even be considered for FSC appoval. So, from the first seedling being planted to the harvesting of the mature tree, to the manufacturing and right through to the shutters being installed in your home, you can rest assured that your wooden shutters have been made according to FSC Guidelines.
